UKRAINE NPLs Ratio 49.3%
20 November 2019

A high NPL rate remains a major challenge for the Ukrainian banking sector, particularly in state-owned banks. According to the NBU, NPLs fell to below 50% in September 2019 coming in at 49.3% and representing a stock of around EUR 20bn.

In 2019, portfolios have been sold by the DGF and the NBU, the market being relatively untapped with good potential for significant deals - the Regulator urging the Banks to step-up their efforts to workout NPLs. The largest deal to date of EUR 413m was made in August 2019
